As the head of the Destination Division of the North Maluku Tourism Office, and having worked for tourism office for the last 14 years, I have always been dedicated to my work towards our goals for the development of sustainable tourism in our province and understand the challenges this sector is facing because i work closely with local communities in Ternate and North Maluku. Through close collaboration with local authorities, local communities, stakeholders, and organizations, i have deepened my understanding of the challenges facing our sector and have actively worked towards innovative solutions.
My focus has long been on leading the development of sustainable economies and small islands, leveraging and protecting natural resources in the process, through an emphasis on sustainable community based eco-tourism development and it has become an example for the province.
My current project is developing the spice-based community based tourism enterprise. The project intends to produce multiple spice products (e.g. nutmeg, clove and cinnamon) to sell from a community based sales outlet in the bush. This will be linked to opportunities to experience spice based traditional food to create a memorable tourism experience and increase the well-being of the local community. I call this project as community based small island and coastal eco-tourism sustainable economy development program.
