Toni Pollard, a teacher of Indonesian language in Australia since1967 and NAATI qualified translator, took up literary translation on her retirement from the University of Western Sydney in 2004. Working mostly with Jakarta-based Lontar Foundation, Mizan, and the Ubud Writers and Readers Festival in Bali, Toni’s translations include many novels and short story collections by both emerging Indonesian writers and well-known authors such as NH Dini, Hanna Rambe, Djokolelono and Gus tf Sakai. She is the co-founder of the Sydney Indolitclub (Indonesian Literature Club) with former Lontar Executive Director, Kestity Pringgoharjono.
