Warsan is a refugee from Africa. She has lived in Indonesia for the last four years as a refugee on her own, and is twenty-seven years old. She is co-director of an archipelago-wide writing collective.
Warsan aims to be a great writer and leading influence for women. She believes she can help many people who are currently voiceless in society, using her life experiences since she was a child and her experiences in Indonesia as the basis of her writing. She is currently writing biographical fiction and news articles. She wants her writing to uncover the social and cultural problems facing refugees and refugee
children. She believes her writing can support many women facing similar experiences.
