William Letford’s debut collection Bevel was published by Carcanet in 2012. He has received a New Writer’s Award from the Scottish Book Trust, an Edwin Morgan Travel Bursary, which allowed him to spend three months helping to restore a medieval village in the mountains of northern Italy, and a Creative Scotland Artist’s Bursary, which involved six months travelling through India. He has taken part in translation projects in Latvia, Lebanon, Iraq, and Palestine. Letford writes in English and Scots and his Scots language poems were included in the Best Scottish poems 2013 and 2017. A chapbook of his poetry And Then There Was Skin was translated into Slovakian and published by Vertigo. His work has appeared on radio and television and his second full collection Dirt was published by Carcanet in 2016.
