Professor Ian McNiven is an anthropological archaeologist and Research Professor in Monash Indigenous Studies Centre, ARC Centre of Excellence for Indigenous and Environmental Histories and Futures, Monash University, Australia. He specialises in the coastal archaeology of Australian Indigenous peoples, with a focus on spiritual and ritual relationships with the sea.
